Message from the Founder (Elvia Torres)

Hello,
Hello, my name is Alvia! First I would like to say that I come from a family that has dedicated themselves to the grocery shopping business. I came from a city called San Luis Potosi, Mexico and arrived in the United States at the age of fifteen. I found my first job as a waitress and that is where I discovered what I wanted to eventually do one day. I realized that it would not be easy to open a restaurant and that I was risking failure, but nevertheless I opened up my first place in 1978 located at 1738 W 47th Street in Chicago (called Alvia’s Restaurant). I then sold the place in 1991 to open up Buenas Nachos. We recently celebrated 30+ years of service in the Frankfort area and I want to thank all of the loyal customers that have made my business possible. Thank you all very very much!
